A look at current world events shows the increasingly important role of UAS (Unmanned Aircraft Systems). The availability and therefore also the possible uses of UAS, especially so-called small UAS, have developed rapidly over the last 15 years. Nowadays, inexpensive commercial UAS can be acquired quickly and easily and operated without much prior knowledge. In addition, the possibilities to customize drones with suitable components are still open.
This results in an additional spectrum of threats from the air, ranging from spying to the disruption of processes and even the destruction of properties, critical infrastructure or events. This in turn gives rise to the need to install sensors to detect UAS, supplemented where necessary by measures to mitigate this threat.

The first step is usually to analyze and define the threat spectrum. This forms the basis for proposals for the selection of suitable sensors and possibly other necessary components for drone defense.
In the next step, the object to be protected itself, i.e. the property, critical infrastructure, etc., is mapped in the simulation with corresponding models for vegetation and buildings. On this basis, the threat, i.e. the type of UAS with corresponding flight patterns, can be modeled in the simulation. Possible sensors and, if necessary, defensive measures are then modelled and parameterized and integrated into the simulation.
Finally, the best possible locations for the drone defense components, adapted to the threat, are determined with the aid of simulation.
Based on this, the final step is to procure and deploy these components at the locations determined by the simulation in order to provide the best possible protection against drones for specific situations or applications.
