Human Systems Integration

Human Systems Integration (HSI) aims to develop current and future processes, systems and technologies in a human-centered way. The focus is on the optimal integration of technology, operators and processes in order to maximize the effectiveness, efficiency and safety of work processes, as well as the health and satisfaction of all those involved in all phases of the life cycle. We use advanced methods and knowledge to develop innovative ideas and concepts for the human-system interface. This includes digital, automated and intelligent systems in particular.
As experts in ergonomics, user interfaces and user experience design, we offer our clients tailor-made solutions to optimize human-machine interaction and task sharing.

Our approach

We follow the human-centered design process in accordance with DIN EN ISO 9241-210.

This cross-industry approach is characterized by its adaptability to the specific requirements and insights of various application contexts. The goal is to enhance the usability of interactive systems by involving various user groups (operators, maintenance and cleaning personnel, management, developers). We consider the context of use, including users, their goals, tasks, interaction environment and necessary resources.

This process places people at the center, taking their needs, goals and usage contexts into account at every stage of product development and use. Regardless of the industry, this approach enables the creation and use of systems and products that are not only user-friendly, efficient and safe but also significantly enhance the satisfaction and well-being of all user groups. By integrating ergonomic principles, usability tests and continuous user feedback, we ensure that the developed solutions meet the high demands and dynamic conditions of various industries, providing significant added value.

Our Services

Usability Evaluations and Prototypes

We develop prototypes as the basis for usability tests. These enable an early, constructive discussion about the design of interactive systems. By creating customer journey maps, we visualize the various steps that users go through in order to understand and optimize the entire user experience.

Ergonomic Analysis

Through observations, surveys, CAD models (e.g. RAMSIS*) and anthropometric data, we evaluate and optimize workplaces and products to promote user health and efficiency. We create detailed wireframes and mockups that visualize the basic structure and functionality of system interactions and serve as a basis for further development.

Cognitive ergonomics: We investigate attention, fatigue and workload using questionnaires, eye tracking, ECG and EDA in order to develop recommendations for work design and break organization. (ECG: electrocardiogram; EDA: electrodermal activity)
Personnel selection and training: With the help of assessment centers, psychometric tests and simulation-based training programs, we ensure the right personnel selection and efficient employee development.
Optimization of the human-machine interface: Usability tests, interface design and ergonomic consulting help increase user satisfaction and reduce error rates. We emphasize barrier-free designs.
Human-system integration: Through work analyses, process consulting and virtual reality simulations, we develop user-centered designs that increase productivity and motivation. With the help of analysis tools such as eye tracking, heat maps, etc., we examine user behavior in order to continuously improve interaction points and user experiences.
Simulation of cognitive processes: We use simulation models to analyze cognitive processes and optimize system interaction and work processes.
Support in HR processes: We implement assessment centers and prevention programs to achieve higher employee satisfaction.
User and design thinking workshops: Our workshops promote innovation processes and user-centered product development tailored to the actual needs and tasks of users. We also facilitate workshops within the context of quality and safety management (e.g., FTA, FMEA, H-FMEA, occupational health and safety).

UI/UX design and prototyping: We create interactive prototypes as the foundation for comprehensive UI/UX testing, enabling early discussions on the design of user-friendly system interactions. Use of VR/AR applications: We develop VR/AR applications for training and simulation to create realistic training environments and design and evaluate workplaces through immersive technologies.
