The development and quality monitoring of resilient, high-stress components require operationally relevant vibration tests with a high number of cycles.
Even with moderate utilization of only 200 test days per year, this means 35 million simulated load cycles annually at an average test frequency of just 2 Hz. At an average test frequency of 10 Hz, this results in 173 million load cycles per year, requiring simulation with an appropriate test bench. For experimental verification of fatigue strength, highly reliable and energy-efficient testing machines are essential.
Our portfolio for dynamic strength testing of highly stressed components (e.g. springs, stabilizers or twist beam axles) includes component-specific resonance test benches and modular flexibly deployable electrohydraulic test systems.
What both solutions have in common is their high reliability. Many of our fatigue strength test rigs have been in continuous use by our customers for over 30 years - sometimes under the permanent influence of salt spray. Both solutions are characterized by very low energy consumption.
Compared to servo-hydraulic fatigue strength test rigs, this means a reduction in operating costs by a factor of 10 to 50. In addition, both test concepts have specific advantages inherent in the system. We would be happy to advise you on which of the two solutions is the best for your specific task and taking into account your specific boundary conditions. In addition to our component testing machines, our rotary bending test benches enable time and cost-saving determination of the fatigue strength of high-strength materials in the early phases of your development or production process. We can implement these strength test benches for you:
Our standard testing machines meet the usual test requirements for the experimental fatigue strength verification of springy highly stressed vehicle components. They are recognized by all premium car manufacturers and conform to the specifications of the working group for stabilizers and springs. However, if your requirements and wishes cannot be fully covered by our standard test systems, we can adapt them individually to your specific needs. This applies, for example, to deviating performance data, additional measuring channels, extended software functionalities or the integration of the test stand into your data management systems. For even more specific tasks, we will be happy to design, construct and implement an individual solution for you based on our experience.
For decades, IABG strength test rigs have been in use worldwide wherever the fatigue strength of highly stressed vehicle components needs to be verified experimentally, e.g. in development, type approval and quality control. Based on this extensive wealth of experience, our solutions have been and continue to be developed further. The result is sophisticated, reliable and well thought-out machines that meet current and future testing requirements, are characterized by low operating and maintenance costs, offer a high degree of variability in terms of possible applications and are recognized worldwide.
For you, this means meaningful and reliable test results with high profitability and investment security.
For meaningful test results, the load and environmental conditions from the subsequent application must be reproduced as realistically as possible in the test environment. Our test benches naturally enable
Many of our systems also enable simulation of real kinematics and combined tests with temperature or climate simulation.
Furthermore, our test benches can be expanded with modular solutions for automated media application, e.g. for the safe application of abrasive media to the spring support or sludge to rod ends.
We offer tried and tested stone chip simulators for pre-damage caused by stone chips.
Our testing machines are very reliable and durable - even when permanently exposed to salt water. Success factors of the mechanical designs are in particular the selection of materials and proven components. We achieve complete mass balancing in all resonance testing machines, so that our systems are free from external forces.
Due to the durable mechanical design, the obsolescence of the electrical components and software is at least as important for the high availability and service life of our systems. This is another reason why we fundamentally revised and reorganized the hardware and software for our component-specific testing systems in 2021. The result is a modular and expandable standard architecture that uses only state-of-the-art standard industrial systems. The software for the new generation of controllers was developed entirely in-house based on our extensive experience. This puts us in a position to support you with individual adaptations (e.g. subsequent integration of the testing machine into a database system) during operation of the system.
In Germany, you pay on average almost five times as much for industrial electricity today as you did 20 years ago. Even if the global differences are large and the further development of electricity prices depends on many factors and is therefore difficult to predict, energy costs will most likely continue to rise in the foreseeable future.
Particularly for test systems that run around the clock for many years, energy costs are already a significant factor in operating costs and crucial to your business case.
Our endurance test benches are therefore based on particularly energy-efficient drive concepts. In steady state, our resonance test benches only need to replenish the energy that is dissipated in the test specimen and the machine during the test. With the recuperating electrohydraulic strength test rigs, there are no throttle losses in the servo valve. In addition, the potential energy stored in the test specimen during loading is recovered during unloading, temporarily stored and used for loading the test specimen in the next oscillation cycle.
For you, this means lower operating costs by a factor of 10 to 50.
In addition to energy costs, personnel costs are decisive for the profitability of your testing operation. Our component testing machines are characterized by the following points, among others:
For you, this means short downtimes and low personnel deployment with maximum safety and high quality results.
Our fatigue strength test stands each cover a wide range of different test specimens and tests, making them variable and versatile for you to use. In combination with the numerous expansion options, this offers you a high level of investment security.
Our component testing machines are approved by all premium car manufacturers and conform to the "Springs and stabilizers" working group specifications.
