Vibration & Shock Tests, Seismic Tests

Seven electrodynamic and several hydraulic vibration systems (single and multi-axial, some combined with temperature/climate) with different table sizes and force vectors are available for vibration tests. All test systems are equipped with powerful control and measuring systems and can cover all vibration test operating modes. Some of our systems enable combined tests such as vibration/temperature.

IABG is accredited to DIN EN ISO 17025 in the field of vibration testing and earthquake simulation. Our fatigue strength laboratory, which is also accredited to DIN EN ISO 17025, meets the highest quality standards of our customers.

The tests we conduct include:

  • Vibration and Shock

    • Simulation of vibration, shock, and constant acceleration, optionally combined with climatic conditions
    • Vibration systems of various sizes and outputs with sine, noise and shock operating modes
    • Drop shock systems with highly variable drop heights and impact delays
    • Simulation of pyroshocks with defined shock response spectrum
    • Development, qualification and acceptance tests in aerospace, plant and mechanical engineering, transportation and defence technology

  • Seismic Testing

    • Simulation of synthetic multiaxial real-time earthquake histories
    • Reproduction of transient events (wind gust loads, airplane crashes on buildings, separation of building components caused by explosions)

Seismic Safety Certification for Energy and Medical Technology

in accordance with DIN EN ISO 17025 and HCAI*

Special, often state-specific qualification regulations regarding earthquake safety apply to systems in the energy and medical technology sectors.

The US state of California in particular has its own testing standards and acceptance procedures, which are monitored by special authorities and thus certify the qualification of the systems. This certification process includes the planning and execution of tests by an ISO 17025 accredited testing laboratory under the supervision of a California-Licensed Structural Engineer and certification by the Department of Health Care Access and Information (HCAI ).

IABG is the only company in Europe to be listed with HCAI and therefore authorized to carry out certification processes.

Certification process for medical technology systems

  • Process implementation according to HCAI specifications from a single source
  • Accredited laboratory in accordance with ISO 17025 for carrying out vibration tests and functional tests
  • Triggering of X-rays for functional testing possible
  • Advice and preparation of the test plan
