Reliability and safety are crucial for increasingly complex vehicles with expanding functional scopes. Over the past 50 years, entire vehicles and their components have been expertly tested and qualified in our test halls according to current standards and customer specifications.
With modern mobility concepts, the demands on vehicle design are becoming increasingly complex: How does the new structure, material or component behave within the complete vehicle? Does the electric vehicle respond significantly differently to road inputs compared to a conventionally powered vehicle? How do active suspension components perform in testing and what does this mean for automated driving? What impact do weather, fog or UV radiation have on the vehicle’s exterior and interior?
The Vertical Dynamic Structural Test Rig (VESPA) ensures the testing of vehicles with both conventional and electric drivetrains. It combines various test types, including operational durability, fatigue, vibration, climate and environmental and solar simulation. Additionally, noise and vibration analyses, such as Acoustic Profiles CREST, Squeak and Rattle (S&R) and Noise Vibration Harshness (NVH), can be performed in a human-rated mode.
A combination test on VESPA integrates many challenges and requirements, offering high accuracy and reproducibility for development, validation and verification.
