IABG is authorized to conduct ballistic quality tests for manufacturers of armored steel, aluminum and armored glass. We determine the "ballistic resistance" and "impact resistance" of materials in ballistic tests. These tests must be performed for each batch of material before delivery for production. IABG, alongside with the Wehrtechnische Dienststelle für Waffen und Munition (WTD91), is the only approved laboratory for conducting quality tests. The revision of TL2350-0006 (armored glass) is led by IABG. We support the quality requirements of the German Armed Forces to ensure the highest standards for armored steel, glass and aluminum.

IABG conducts ballistic tests and assessments of civilian and military armored vehicles according to standards such as STANAG 4569 AEP-55 Volume 1 and VPAM BRV. We determine the ballistic resistance of your fully equipped vehicle. Documentation of the test vehicle is also part of our service. The results of the ballistic test are documented in detailed and internationally recognized test reports. For passed tests, we issue certificates of conformity and test certificates. We offer the full range of services to ensure the conformity of armored vehicle production.

Ballistic-resistant infrastructure segments, such as security doors and windows, protection containers, room cells and guardhouses, are tested against ballistic threats at IABG. We work according to national and international standards, including DIN EN 1522 / 1523 / 1063, VPAM BSR and STANAG 2280.

We specialize in explosive tests with hand grenades, fragmentation charges, test charges (Improvised Explosive Devices) and pure explosives according to national and international standards such as STANAG 4569 and VPAM ERV. We also support and enable specific customer requirements thanks to our extensive expertise. Our comprehensive diagnostic capabilities, including high-speed diagnostics, provide insights into the effects of test charges. Validation of test charges can thus be ensured according to specifications.

IABG conducts explosion tests on civilian and military armored vehicles. The evaluation is carried out according to standards such as STANAG 4569 AEP-55 Volumes 2 & 3 and VPAM ERV. We use extensive measurement technology, including crash test dummies (ATDs), to analyze and assess the probability of injury to occupants. Documentation of the test vehicle and the results is provided in detailed test reports. Successful acceptance tests are recognized with an internationally accepted test certificate. Our service includes a comprehensive range, up to and including conformity testing of armored vehicle production to ensure occupant safety.

With our test benches, we can test materials, structures and components of protected vehicles (e.g. seat and restraint systems, kits, racks, radios, weapon holders) against various high-explosive threats. We are happy to develop customized test benches and procedures with you to test the behavior of your product. The evaluation of your products is carried out according to recognized national procedures, such as the occupant-safe integration of kits, in line with international standards like STANAG 4569 or tailored to your specific needs.

Explosion-resistant or protected infrastructure segments, such as facades and building components, security doors and windows, or protection containers, are tested at IABG against pressure and impulse loads, fragmentation charges or improvised explosive devices. We work according to national and international standards, including STANAG 2280, ASTM F2912-17 and GSA standards or in accordance with customer-specific requirements.
