We have long since become accustomed to the advantages of sophisticated driver assistance systems in cars: the frequency and severity of accidents is significantly reduced, and assistance systems also make a major contribution to reducing the driver's workload, particularly in complex urban traffic situations.
Trams are also set to benefit from these advantages in the future. So far, driver assistance systems have only been used to a very limited extent here. Suitable assistance systems are to be integrated when the next generation of streetcars is procured. They will help streetcars to remain competitive in urban public transport and create an attractive and, above all, safe working environment for streetcar drivers.
We support streetcar operators in this task with our new streetcar simulator.
This is a user-centered prototyping of driver assistance systems. The flexible and manufacturer-independent platform was specially designed for the development of individual automation solutions. Based on a modern streetcar driver's workplace with common rail components, our virtual simulation enables interactive training in the operator-specific track network.
The main advantage for operators lies in minimizing risk and saving costs by avoiding incorrect orders or subsequently necessary changes in the procurement of driver assistance systems.
Specifically, operators benefit from our
