Future Combat Air System (FCAS)
IABG supports the development of the multinational Future Combat Air System (FCAS) - an operationally effective and economically efficient network of existing and new weapon systems, such as the Eurofighter or the new Next Generation Weapon System (NGWS). We provide analytical decision support for the German Ministry of Defence along the entire life cycle of the various systems.
This includes the processing of operational, technical-physical, but also economic and administrative issues. System-of-system analyses, trade-off studies and the provision of IABG's own air power simulation environment round off our support services for the customer.
Next Generation Weapon System (NGWS)
Next Generation Weapon Systems (NGWS) - a 6th generation combat aircraft system consisting of a central, manned New Generation Fighter (NGF), several unmanned systems (Remote Carrier) and an information and mission management system (Air Combat Cloud).
IABG supports the development here by analyzing technical aspects for the trinational NGWS program itself on the one hand and for the national NGWS research program in Germany on the other.
For example, concepts are technically evaluated or the implementation of new technologies is supported. In addition, operational issues, e.g. on the design and use of the NGWS, are also addressed through corresponding analyses and a separate framework scenario. IABG's services are rounded off by contributions to the preparation of project-relevant planning and documentation as part of project management.
Assessment & Verification System - Future Air Power (BNS-FAP)
Future operations in a networked system network lead to challenging questions - Where are there capability gaps? How must future weapon systems be developed in order to survive in air combat? How must their operation be designed in order to be as sustainable as possible? The simulation-based IABG analysis system BNS-FAP can provide answers to these questions.
BNS-FAP enables the Bundeswehr to take a transparent, holistic view of the Future Combat Air System (FCAS). The comprehensive mapping of behavior (Blue vs. Red) and technical-operational effects (e.g. electronic warfare, communication, etc.) as well as the management of large-scale scenarios ("Large Scale War") allow the processing of a wide range of questions relating to future air combat.
Accompanying flight test campaigns
We support demanding campaigns to test procedures or certify equipment in and on aircraft. We cover military aircraft, special equipment and procedures as well as civil aircraft.
In addition to the instrumentation, design and creation of test plans, we also have qualified flight test engineers to carry out the campaigns.
For example, we have contributed to the A400M's ability to land on unpaved runways in operations. Other examples include the qualification of automatic and free-fall parachutes.

Project support in use
The tasks and challenges involved in the successful operation of flying systems are as diverse as the technologies and applications of the aircraft themselves. They range from the optimization of maintenance programs and procedures, the monitoring and elimination of obsolescence to the detailed analysis of the entire logistical apparatus. Data analyses of logistical data, spare parts flows and aircraft usage data form the basis for logistical fleet simulations, provide our customers with valuable indicators for the management of aircraft and allow medium and long-term forecasts of fleet performance depending on real usage profiles.

Mission Display And Analysis System
MiDAS processes real-time and simulated data from the air, land, sea and space dimensions and supports global cooperation with multinational armed forces. It offers seamless integration of different data formats and the use of advanced technologies. MiDAS is specifically designed for the critical debriefing phase of live training. It transforms big data into clear, actionable insights that enable rapid adjustments and tactical and strategic improvements to increase operational readiness.
MiDAS is used in major multinational projects: Air Defender 2023, NATO Tiger Meet 'NTM' 2024 or Unified Vision (NATO's largest JISR exercise).
