HighRisk Testing

We test and qualify hydrogen technologies

Overall system expertise for H2 technologies

  • H2 propulsion/conversion: testing of fuel cell systems

    • Shock and vibration testing
    • Mechanical unit tests
    • Leakage test
    • Testing of regular operation
    • Operating, differential and overpressure tests
    • Cold and hot start tests
    • Icing (stack, cathode exhaust air, ...)
    • Air contamination tests
    • Lifetime tests and degradation tests
  • H2 storage

    • Burst tests also for large-volume gas accumulators with an internal volume of up to 1,000 liters and a burst pressure of up to 2,200 bar
    • Construction of bursting chambers
    • Static pressure and dynamic cycling tests also for large-volume gas accumulators up to 1,500 bar (upper pressure peak value)
IABG has access to new, highly efficient water-hydraulic pressure generators and new burst-proof test chambers for these tests. This makes it possible to test very large hydrogen storage tanks with very high static and dynamic pressures. For unconventional tank shapes and tanks that exceed the size of the test chambers, we use our High-Risk Test Center in Lichtenau.
    • Impact tests
    • Fire and drop tests
    • Mechanical tests of the tank connection and media routing
  • H2 distribution

    • Checking the function of tank couplings
    • Carrying out refueling tests
  • We test according to these standards, among others

    • EC 79
    • EN 12245
    • IEC / DIN EN 61373 & ISO11119-2
    • UN ECE R134
    • UN ECE GTR 13
    • EU 406
    • EU 535
    • SAE J2601
